The cardinals have once again failed to elect a new pope, following two inconclusive votes this morning. They will now break for lunch before returning to the Sistine Chapel this afternoon for a fourth—and possibly fifth—round of voting. Thousands have gathered at the Vatican, eyes fixed on the chapel’s chimney.
