Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has announced revised dates for the display of the National Voters Register and Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) ahead of the 2025/2026 General Elections.
The Electoral Commission, mandated under Section 26 of the Electoral Commission Act to compile, maintain, and display the National Voters Register, had initially scheduled the exercise to begin on April 17, 2025 and conclude on May 8, 2025. However, this timeline has now been rescheduled.
“The display of the National Voters Register will now commence on April 25, 2025 and conclude on May 15, 2025,” Justice Byabakama announced.
Similarly, the display of the Voters Registers for Special Interest Groups—namely Youths, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Older Persons—has also been adjusted. This exercise, which was initially slated for April 17 to April 28, 2025, will now run from April 25 to May 8, 2025.
Byabakama further stated that the period for Parish Tribunal recommendations on inclusions and deletions from the registers, if any, will take place from Friday, May 16, 2025, to Monday, May 26, 2025, at the respective parishes across the country.
“The Electoral Commission appeals to all stakeholders in the electoral process to actively participate in the display exercise and adhere to the guidelines that will be issued,” he added.
The display of the Voters Register is a crucial step in ensuring transparency, accuracy, and public participation in Uganda’s electoral process as the nation prepares for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
