As the countdown to the 2026 general elections intensifies, the newly registered People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) is preparing to release its official electoral road map—just days after receiving its certificate of registration as a political party.

Last week, the Electoral Commission granted PFF formal recognition after more than six months of groundwork and mobilization. With this milestone achieved, the party is now moving quickly to establish its internal structures and lay out a plan for political participation.

According to Michael Kabaziguruka, the interim Chairperson of the PFF Electoral Committee, the National Executive Committee (NEC) is scheduled to meet this week to review and approve the party’s electoral guidelines and road map.

“We have a clear road map that we have already developed. NEC will meet this week to approve it. Once approved, we shall circulate it and guide our members on the subsequent steps,” Kabaziguruka said.

In a show of readiness, the PFF has also begun distributing Expression of Interest forms for members seeking to contest for elective positions on the party ticket. These forms are being disseminated primarily through electronic means, with district leadership expected to download, print, and distribute them to interested individuals.

“We have already sent the forms to some areas. For others, we will continue to do so electronically to ensure broad access and timely participation,” Kabaziguruka added.

However, the party leadership has issued a strong warning against premature campaigning, particularly the circulation of posters by aspirants who have not yet been officially endorsed as party flag bearers.

“There will be a transparent and fair process to select official candidates. Do not move ahead of the party’s official timeline. If you act prematurely, you may be forced to pull back, which could be politically damaging,” said Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the interim Party Spokesperson.

Ssemujju further cautioned that early personal branding without party endorsement may create confusion and internal friction, especially if multiple candidates emerge for the same position.

“Putting up posters before the official nomination process misleads the public and undermines party structures. Let us align with our internal road map, which will guide the nomination process in a fair and inclusive manner,” he emphasized.

The release of the electoral road map comes as the PFF intensifies preparations for its official launch on July 8, 2025. This date will mark the formal inauguration of the party, solidifying its entry into Uganda’s political landscape as a serious contender in the upcoming national elections.
