NCBA Bank Uganda has waived transaction fees on selected digital banking services until December 31, 2026, in a campaign aimed at reducing banking costs and encouraging customers to use its digital platforms.
The offer, launched on October 13, covers utility bill payments, bank-to-wallet transfers, electronic funds transfers (EFT), Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transactions, international transfers and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) payments made through the bank’s NCBA NOW mobile application, web platform and USSD service.
Mark Muyobo, NCBA Bank Uganda chief executive officer, said the campaign was intended to give customers greater value for their money while making digital banking more accessible.
“By removing transaction fees on selected services through our digital channels for the remainder of the year, we are encouraging customers to make greater use of digital banking while enjoying savings on everyday transactions,” Muyobo said during the launch at the bank’s head office at Twed Towers in Kampala.
The campaign targets existing customers, including those who have become inactive, as well as prospective customers who may wish to open accounts with the bank.
The initiative comes alongside NCBA’s campaign targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), dubbed “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwererere”, which seeks to reduce the cost of banking and accessing credit for businesses.
Under the SME campaign, qualifying customers can access zero transaction fees and zero arrangement fees on selected financing facilities, including business loans, invoice discounting, local purchase order (LPO) financing and asset financing, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Muyobo said reducing banking costs could help businesses manage their cash flow and direct more resources towards their operations.
“We understand that for SMEs, every cost matters and every opportunity to improve cash flow can make a difference,” he said.
SMEs are important to Uganda’s economy, supporting employment, entrepreneurship and household livelihoods. However, the cost of financial services remains an important consideration for businesses seeking financing and managing daily transactions.
NCBA said the digital banking campaign is intended to encourage customers to make greater use of its electronic channels rather than relying solely on conventional banking services.
The waiver applies only to specified transactions and will run until December 31, 2026, subject to the campaign’s terms and conditions.
