President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned road infrastructure projects worth Shs 53 billion in Kasese Municipality, under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program.
During his visit to the Rwenzori sub-region, the President also promoted the Parish Development Model (PDM), describing it as a transformative strategy to integrate all Ugandans into the money economy, beginning at the household level.
The newly completed 7-kilometer road network includes key roads such as Rwenzori, Margherita, Stanley, and Kitalikibi. Additional upgrades include the installation of drainage channels, traffic lights, and other infrastructure aimed at easing mobility and stimulating business activity in Kasese and surrounding areas.
“I drove to Kasese Municipality, where I commissioned a series of completed road infrastructure projects worth Shs 53 billion constructed under the USMID program,” Museveni said.
He emphasized that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government delivers on its promises. “We do what we say and say what we mean. The NRM has always followed a clear sequence: we start with what matters most.”
The President also addressed broader development challenges, noting that Uganda’s problem has never been a lack of ideas, but rather poor prioritization. “You want to do everything at once, but that’s not how transformation works,” he added.
Museveni concluded his tour of the Rwenzori region with a public rally in Kasese Municipality, where he assessed the implementation of the PDM.
He urged citizens to take ownership of the PDM funds. “This money belongs to the people and must be closely monitored to ensure it truly transforms lives,” he said. The government, he noted, will continue to inject more funds into the PDM program each year to support economic transformation at the parish level.
