After eight years of distinguished service, Stanbic Bank Uganda has announced that Daniel Ogong, the long-serving Head of Brand & Marketing, will be stepping down from his role effective October 1, 2025.
Widely regarded as one of Uganda’s most influential marketing leaders, Ogong has played a pivotal role in shaping Stanbic’s brand narrative, helping establish it as one of the country’s most trusted and respected financial institutions.
During his tenure, Ogong spearheaded numerous creative and innovative marketing campaigns, with bold investments in local sport and music — aligning with the bank’s purpose of driving Uganda’s growth. His leadership has earned the bank multiple industry accolades, cementing its reputation as a thought leader in the financial services sector.
In 2024, Ogong was named Marketing Pioneer of the Year by Evolve Group Africa in recognition of his forward-thinking approach and ability to translate brand strategy into tangible business results. A year earlier, he was honoured as Professional of the Year by peers at the African Marketing Confederation (AMC).
Chief Executive Mumba Kalifungwa praised Ogong’s contributions, stating: “Daniel has been instrumental in positioning Stanbic Bank as a brand defined by trust, innovation, and client-focus. His work has inspired our teams internally and set new benchmarks for marketing excellence across the industry. We thank him for his service and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
Reflecting on his journey, Ogong shared: “Leading the Stanbic brand and marketing strategy has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. Over the past eight years, I’ve had the honour of working with incredibly talented colleagues to tell the Stanbic story in ways that resonate with Ugandans and reflect our role in driving national progress. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and confident the brand will continue to thrive.”
Colleagues describe Ogong as a mentor and team-builder who consistently empowered others to excel. Beyond the campaigns and awards, his legacy includes nurturing marketing talent and embedding a storytelling culture that connects the bank’s purpose to the everyday lives of Ugandans.
While Ogong departs from the role, Stanbic Bank emphasised that his influence and expertise will continue to shape Uganda’s brand and marketing industry for years to come.
Diana Kahunde, currently Brand & Marketing Manager for Personal and Private Banking, will serve as Interim Head of Brand & Marketing effective October 1, 2025. She is credited with leading several successful campaigns in the retail segment and is expected to provide continuity and stability during the transition period.
