The Entebbe Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an arrest warrant for land broker Hajji Muhammad Kamoga of Kamoga Property Consultants after he failed to appear in court to face charges related to forging a lawyer’s practicing certificate.

The warrant, signed this morning by Grade One Magistrate Edgar Tusiime, directs the police to arrest Kamoga by October 6.

Kamoga faces multiple counts of forgery, including falsifying the stamp and signature of lawyer Lorna Nkamwesiga. These alleged forgeries reportedly enabled him to fraudulently acquire 200 acres of land in Garuga, Entebbe.

In addition to forging Nkamwesiga’s practicing certificate, Kamoga is accused of obtaining land registration through false pretenses and uttering forged documents—charges that have intensified public scrutiny of his already controversial standing in Uganda’s real estate sector.

In a related development, Her Worship Stella Maris Amabilis, Chief Magistrate of Entebbe, recently recused herself from a separate high-profile land fraud case involving Kamoga, citing concerns about potential bias.

Tensions in the courtroom escalated earlier this week when the prosecution declared readiness to proceed with the case. However, Kamoga’s lawyer, Brian Tindyebwa, raised objections, alleging prior communication between the magistrate and the accused via WhatsApp—claims that could call into question the impartiality of the proceedings.

In response, Magistrate Amabilis convened a closed-door meeting with both legal teams. Upon returning to the courtroom, she formally announced her decision to step aside.

“I have no personal interest in this matter,” Amabilis stated. “However, given the accused’s prior complaint to the Judicial Service Commission and the serious allegations made against me, I believe it is appropriate to recuse myself.”
