Bushenyi District Police are holding two men in connection with the murder of Linette Karunga, a 21-year-old Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus student who was found dead on Monday night in Nyakashebeya Village, Nyabubare Parish, Nyabubare Subcounty.
According to SP Apollo Tayebwa, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, the suspects Onan Nimwesiga and another man only identified as Farouk are believed to have been close acquaintances of the deceased.
“We have two suspects in custody who were close to the deceased, and they are assisting us as we work to establish what exactly happened,” Tayebwa said. “We appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward. Public cooperation is key to helping us bring the perpetrator to justice.”
He added that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
Police have urged the community to remain calm and avoid speculation as inquiries proceed.
