Muhika Junior School has posted an impressive debut performance in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), recording an 85 per cent success rate in its inaugural sitting since its founding in 2022.
According to results released by the Ministry of Education and Sports on Friday, January 30, 2026, 12 of the school’s 15 candidates attained First Grade, while three scored Second Grade. The school was ranked fourth in Kira Municipality and 245th nationally.
Top performers included Kirabo Devine Elianah and Nyanzi Solomon Birimuye, who each scored an aggregate of six.
The School Director, Edward Muhigirwa, said the results reflect the strong foundation laid by the school’s pioneer teachers and its commitment to holistic education.
“We believe learners should receive a holistic education that allows them to explore their abilities across various disciplines. This performance demonstrates how well equipped our candidates have been,” Muhigirwa said.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony held at the school, Muhigirwa emphasized the importance of building a strong alumni community, urging the pioneer candidates to act as role models.
“For our candidates who sat their exams, you have now become alumni and mentors for the continuing students. You have set a culture as the first cohort for others to follow,” he said.
Muhika Junior School offers both the Uganda National Curriculum and the International Cambridge Curriculum, giving learners a broad and competitive academic experience. The school currently has an enrolment of 343 students.
The Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Robinah Siima, encouraged the pioneer P7 class to take pride in their school and promote its brand as they transition to secondary education.
Siima, who is also the mother of the school’s first enrolled pupil, praised the institution’s contribution to her child’s academic excellence.
Beyond academics, Muhika Junior School has positioned itself as a skills-focused institution, offering training in baking, arts and crafts, tailoring, swimming, and music as part of its broader strategy to transform education in Uganda.
The school has also registered notable success in extracurricular activities. Five-year-old Mugabe, a pupil at the school, was crowned Little Miss Uganda on December 22, 2025, while other learners have excelled in ballet competitions at international level.
Mugabe is set to represent Uganda in Kenya at the Little Miss and Mr International Pageantry, competing against participants from across Africa and showcasing Uganda’s culture and tourism.
Additionally, the school’s ballet team recently emerged runners-up at the Voyage Munah Ballet Competition held at St. Andrews Bukoto, further highlighting Muhika’s strength in co-curricular excellence.
Looking ahead to the 2026 academic year, which begins on February 10, the school has recorded increased enrolment and now has limited vacancies available. Margaret Donata, Chairperson of the School Management Committee, said plans are underway to expand the school this year.
