The Joint Security Task Team has arrested the prime suspect in connection with the murder of Tumwebaze Pamela.

The 46-year-old Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), and a resident of Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District, was found dead in her bedroom on February 11, 2026.

According to Rachael Kawala, the Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Taewaiko Dak Hussein was arrested at his hideout in Budaka District. He was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased, a critical piece of evidence linking him to the murder.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is a former house help to the deceased. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and further updates will be communicated as progress is made.

“Preliminary findings indicate that at around 2:00 a.m., when Pamela met her death, the houseboy saw an unknown man inside her bedroom wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings. The suspect later fled the scene carrying a laptop bag belonging to the deceased,” Kawala said.

She added that the houseboy and the children later checked on their mother and found her unresponsive in bed. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kawala said police task teams have been deployed and investigations are ongoing to gather additional evidence.

The Uganda Police Force, she noted, remains fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice.
