Mzee Nathan Okori, the father of the late Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah, has passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, Daily Star has confirmed.
Family sources said Okori was rushed to the hospital two days ago after developing respiratory complications. He died today while undergoing treatment.
His passing comes exactly four years after the death of his son, Jacob Oulanyah, in a coincidence that has drawn emotional reactions.
Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Norbert Mao confirmed the news, describing the timing as deeply poignant.
“This is uncanny. On the fourth anniversary of the death of Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, we have lost his father, Mzee Nathan Okori,” Mao said. “I have just received the sad news from his family that he was rushed to Lacor with respiratory complications two days ago and has today passed on.”
Okori’s death marks another moment of loss for the Oulanyah family and has rekindled memories of the former Speaker, whose passing in 2022 was widely mourned across the country.
