KCB Bank Uganda has strengthened its footprint in motorsport by taking over as the title sponsor of Uganda’s National Rally Championship, signaling a renewed push to grow the sport and support emerging talent across the country.

The announcement, made at the bank’s Kampala headquarters, brought together officials from the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), rally drivers, and motorsport enthusiasts, marking a new chapter for the championship.

With the new arrangement, the series will now run under the banner of the KCB–Pearl of Africa Rally Championship, with the upcoming round slated for May 9–11, 2026, in Mbale. The move represents a major step up for KCB, which has backed the championship since 2007 and now assumes full title sponsorship.

Managing Director Edgar Byamah said the decision reflects the bank’s alignment with the values of motorsport, including precision, resilience, and high performance.

“Motorsport reflects the same discipline and consistency we bring to our business. By stepping in as title sponsor, we are not only supporting the sport but also investing in youth potential and platforms that inspire national development,” Byamah said.

He noted that just as rally drivers rely on precision and reliability to navigate demanding terrain, customers depend on trusted financial solutions to achieve their goals.

The FMU welcomed the expanded partnership, describing it as a timely boost that will enhance the growth of rallying and open up new opportunities for drivers across the country.

“This is a strong vote of confidence in Ugandan motorsport. It will accelerate the development of young talent and help extend the sport’s reach to more regions,” the federation said.

The announcement follows a notable international performance by KCB-backed driver Oscar Ntambi, who recently competed in the World Rally Championship, finishing fifth in the African Rally Championship standings and 22nd globally on debut.

Ntambi credited the bank’s support for his rise on the global stage, saying the new sponsorship will further energize the local motorsport scene.

“Having KCB step in as title sponsor is a major boost for all of us. It strengthens the sport and gives drivers the confidence to aim higher,” he said.

The National Rally Championship remains one of Africa’s standout motorsport events, drawing top regional competitors and passionate fan support. With KCB Bank Uganda now at the forefront, expectations are high for a more competitive and widely visible championship.

The bank says the partnership reinforces its commitment to innovation and community impact, using sport as a platform to drive national pride and economic growth.
