The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has intensified its corporate social responsibility agenda, with fresh attention on inclusive education and support for children with disabilities, following a donation of essential supplies to Masaka School for the Deaf.

The intervention, delivered by a team led by Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho, saw the institution provide food items, sanitary materials and other welfare supplies to the specialised learning institution for children with hearing impairments.

The donation was received by school director Francis Kamulegeya, who welcomed the support as a timely boost to the institution’s day-to-day care and learning environment.

Masaka School for the Deaf is a specialised institution offering nursery, primary and vocational education to learners with hearing impairments, alongside co-curricular activities such as sports, music, dance and drama aimed at promoting holistic development.

Speaking during the handover, Kainobwisho said the initiative reflects URSB’s commitment to inclusive development and community empowerment.

She noted that sustainable development requires deliberate support to vulnerable communities, adding that public institutions have a responsibility that goes beyond their statutory mandates.

Kamulegeya praised the intervention, saying such partnerships play a key role in bridging gaps in care and learning resources for children with disabilities.

He added that the school continues to rely on external support to maintain a conducive learning environment for its learners, many of whom require specialised care.

The latest donation adds to URSB’s growing corporate social responsibility portfolio, which includes support to education, health, environmental conservation, and community welfare programmes across the country.

URSB believes that public institutions should extend their impact beyond service delivery to actively contribute to social transformation, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children with disabilities.
