Akoromit PEAS High School has celebrated 13 years of providing quality education to the children of Teso. Located in Kapelebyongo District, formerly part of Amuria District, the school has grown into one of the leading private institutions in the area.

Despite being one of the few private schools in the district, Akoromit has consistently demonstrated remarkable academic performance. Over the years, it has sent numerous students to universities, reflecting its strong commitment to promoting higher education aspirations among its learners.

Notably, in 2024, Akoromit secured four out of the six university placements allocated to Kapelebyongo District under the quarter system, showcasing its competitive edge within the region.

During the anniversary celebrations, Head Teacher Paul Omuut Alaki emphasized that the school’s mission goes beyond academic achievement.

“It’s not just about test scores and grades; it’s about instilling core values and nurturing young minds,” he said.

Alaki stressed the importance of providing equal opportunities for both male and female students, ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive regardless of their background.

“Every lesson taught is a seed planted. When we look at our alumni today—many of them young professionals and leaders—we see the fruitful harvest of the seeds we’ve sown,” he added. “The world is changing rapidly, but our unwavering commitment to excellence and to realizing the individual potential of every child remains steadfast.”

Akoromit is operated by the non-profit organization Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS), which manages a network of 30 schools across the country. According to Henry Senkasi, the Country Director of PEAS, Akoromit is one of six PEAS schools in the Teso region.

The organization’s mission is to provide high-quality education to students from humble backgrounds, offering support to disadvantaged communities.

“We equip our teachers with continuous professional development and ensure our schools are furnished with modern facilities. Our aim is to create an enabling environment that fosters learning and encourages educational success,” Senkasi said. “Our schools strive to uplift communities through the power of quality education.”

The guest of honor, Wilfred Oluka Okeriau, Chairperson of the Association of Secondary School Head Teachers Union in Teso, commended Akoromit for its contribution to the education sector. He noted that institutions like Akoromit play a vital role in shaping the future of students and the wider community.

As Akoromit PEAS High School embarks on another year of service, it remains committed to fostering academic excellence and empowering the next generation of leaders in Teso and beyond.
