The National Unity Platform (NUP) has reportedly lost Shs 40 million following a recent raid conducted by joint security forces, party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has said.

Last Friday, police stated that they carried out the search due to alleged illegal military training at NUP premises in Kamwokya and Makerere-Kavule.

“Following reports of unauthorized military drills at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Kavule and their premises in Kamwokya, Kampala City, the Uganda Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, mounted a coordinated security operation,” police said in a statement.

Speaking earlier, Bobi Wine condemned the raid, stating: “We have called out the regime for sanctioning a raid on our Kavule premises and the School of Leadership in Kamwokya, where several properties were damaged and confiscated. Cash worth over Shs 40 million was stolen during the criminal break-in.”

He further revealed that computers, cameras, and documents are still missing, and their security system was disabled, including hard drives containing CCTV footage.

Additionally, he said that some missing comrades had resurfaced after allegedly being illegally detained at CMI/DIS Mbuya for several days. Those who reappeared include Kinobe Rashid, Kiyemba Sharif, Bongole Samson, as well as EMC members Eddie Kayaabula and Alex Rovans Lwanyaga.

Meanwhile, Fred Nyanzi, NUP’s Head of Mobilization, has also resurfaced after four days of alleged abduction. He narrated his ordeal, stating that he was whipped.
