As Uganda’s political battlefield heats up, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, the president of National Unity Platform (NUP) has kicked off his 2026 presidential bid with the launch of a striking new campaign poster and a message that leaves little room for ambiguity: “A New Uganda Now.”
Unveiled Wednesday on his verified social media platforms, the poster is more than a visual update, it’s a declaration of intent. Clad in the same blue suit, red tie, and white shirt he wore in the 2021 campaign, Bobi Wine signals both continuity and defiance.
His attire is a uniform of resistance, a subtle reminder that the mission hasn’t changed only the moment has.
The poster marries the new slogan with the enduring rallying cry of the NUP movement: “People Power, Our Power.” The words “Protest Vote” are boldly stamped on the design a not-so-subtle warning that the opposition doesn’t plan to play by the old rules in 2026.
Kyagulanyi remains President Museveni’s most formidable challenger, a thorn in the side of the decades old National Resistance Movement (NRM)regime.
His 2021 campaign shook the nation and captivated international attention, despite ending with a controversial loss, Museveni claimed 58% of the vote, while Kyagulanyi trailed at 35%.
NUP rejected the results outright, pointing to widespread electoral fraud, intimidation, and a brutal crackdown on dissent.
With the poster launch, Bobi Wine isn’t just campaigning, he’s reigniting the fight. And if the slogan is anything to go by, he’s done waiting. Uganda’s next election cycle just got a lot more interesting.
