Mothers who delivered at C-Care IHK Namuwongo between May and December this year were on Friday treated to a special wellness and appreciation experience as the hospital hosted a patient-centred celebration capped with a luxury Mom-Cation raffle draw.
Held at the C-Care IHK Namuwongo facility, the event brought together dozens of mothers for a morning of wellness sessions, maternal health education, and peer engagement—underscoring the hospital’s commitment to holistic maternal care beyond childbirth.
Opening the event over breakfast, C-Care IHK General Manager Dr Miriam Mutero Musinga said motherhood, while fulfilling, comes with immense physical and emotional demands that require sustained support.
“Motherhood is an extraordinary journey filled with moments of beauty and joy, yet it also presents a myriad of challenges that can be incredibly demanding,” Dr Mutero said. “At C-Care, our commitment extends well beyond the delivery room. We are dedicated to nurturing the physical and emotional well-being of mothers throughout their entire parenting experience.”
She added that the wellness event was designed to honour mothers while encouraging them to prioritise self-care.
“Every mother deserves moments of rest, joy, and self-care, and we aim to empower them to embrace these essential aspects of their lives,” she noted.
The programme featured a mental health session addressing emotional challenges during and after pregnancy, an interactive discussion on painless labour options, and a newborn safety session delivered through the HSI Child and Baby sitting Safety framework, which equips housemaids and caregivers with infant safety and life-saving skills.
Organisers said the sessions were tailored to provide practical knowledge, emotional reassurance, and a safe space for mothers to share experiences and build supportive networks.
The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated Mom-Cation Raffle Draw, where Sokie Jackie Katonda Nalongo emerged the winner of an all-expenses-paid luxury weekend getaway to a top resort in Jinja. Cheers filled the room as her name was announced, with the visibly emotional mother stepping forward to receive her prize.
Reflecting on her journey, Nalongo praised the care she received at C-Care IHK.
“From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and a sense of professionalism that instantly put me at ease,” she said. “The staff was attentive and compassionate, taking time to explain each step of my treatment process.”
She added that the hospital’s modern facilities and medical expertise gave her confidence throughout her stay.
“The doctors were incredibly knowledgeable, and I felt assured that my concerns were understood and addressed,” Nalongo said.
According to hospital management, the Mom-Cation initiative is part of C-Care’s broader efforts to champion patient-centred care and maternal wellbeing, with continued investment in programmes that educate, empower, and support women throughout motherhood.
The event concluded with networking, photo sessions, and the distribution of appreciation tokens, leaving participants feeling valued and connected.
As mothers navigate the transformative journey of parenthood, organisers emphasised the importance of self-care and community support, encouraging women to share experiences and build networks that celebrate motherhood and enable women to thrive.
