The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the people of Uganda for their successful hosting of the CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The message of appreciation was delivered on Sunday by the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, who conveyed Dr. Motsepe’s special note of thanks.
According to Speaker Among, the recognition underscores Uganda’s growing reputation as a reliable destination for major continental sporting events.
“Earlier today, I delivered a special message of appreciation to President Museveni on behalf of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. This message was addressed to the people of Uganda, recognizing their successful hosting of the CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship 2024,” she said.
Speaker Among also extended her gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the tournament’s success, emphasizing the unifying power of sports.
“I thank President Museveni, First Lady Janet Museveni, the local organizing committee, FUFA, and the incredible fans who helped create unforgettable memories during the tournament,” she added.
Held in August 2024 and jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, this year’s edition of CHAN has been widely hailed as one of the most vibrant in the tournament’s history.
Uganda, in particular, received widespread praise for its hospitality, organizational excellence, and the passionate support shown by its fans.
