Cedric Babu, the son of Capt. Francis Babu and Olive Kigongo, has sadly passed away.
The renowned sportsman died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, where he had been airlifted after collapsing in Kigali, Rwanda.
At the time of his death, Cedric and his family were actively seeking £300,000 (approximately UGX 1.2 billion) to fund a life-saving heart transplant.
“We’re writing this with urgency and hope in our hearts. Cedric—our father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and a bright light in our lives—is currently in the ICU, courageously fighting for his life after being diagnosed with severe heart failure,” his family shared in a statement before his passing.
They added, “We are launching this fundraiser to raise £300,000 (UGX 1.2 billion). His condition has rapidly deteriorated, and doctors have confirmed that his only chance of survival is a heart transplant.”
According to the family, the critical procedure was to be performed abroad.
“This is more than a medical emergency—it’s a fight for Cedric’s future. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving him the second chance he so desperately needs,” the family appealed.
