The City Hall Grade One Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima, who had spent two days on remand at Luzira Prison.
Nsiima faces charges of assault and malicious damage to property following a widely circulated CCTV video that showed him slapping a supermarket attendant during an altercation. He is also accused of damaging the victim’s smartphone during the incident.
During the court session, Nsiima’s lawyer informed the magistrate that the two parties had reached a reconciliation agreement. Despite this, the court initially remanded him until October 16, 2025, to allow for further proceedings.
However, Nsiima subsequently applied for bail.
In his ruling, the presiding magistrate noted that the accused had substantial sureties, was not facing any other charges, and had no history of skipping bail. As a result, the court granted him cash bail of Shs 1 million, while each of his sureties was bonded at Shs 5 million non-cash.
According to the state prosecutor, investigations into the matter are now complete, and the hearing has been scheduled for November 6, 2025.
