Hassan Segujja, an orthopedic doctor formerly attached to Mulago National Referral Hospital, has been fined Shs 4 million for forging medical prescription forms to facilitate bail for Kampala District Land Board Chairperson, David Balondemu.

Segujja opted for a plea bargain instead of undergoing a full trial, which could have resulted in a sentence exceeding three years in prison. By accepting the forgery charges, he received a reduced penalty.

During his testimony on November 18, 2023, Segujja revealed that Balondemu, who was in custody at Wandegeya Police Station, contacted him and requested a forged medical document.

The document falsely stated that Balondemu was seriously ill and scheduled for surgery, in an effort to secure bail from the Buganda Road Court.
