President Yoweri Museveni has commended Uganda’s security forces for ensuring peaceful Easter celebrations across the country, particularly during the Good Friday processions marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

In his Easter message, the President also congratulated Christian believers for their commitment during the 40-day Lenten fast and for the peaceful commemoration of the Way of the Cross.

“I commend the security forces for guiding and protecting the people who took part in processions to mark the crucifixion,” Museveni said.

The President emphasized the importance of spirituality, describing it as one of the fundamental human needs. He added that while physical needs such as food, shelter, medicine, infrastructure, and education are crucial, the spiritual dimension plays a vital role in shaping moral behavior.

“The message of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is that our people are free to develop their spirituality—cultivating the fear of God to guard against the temptation of evil deeds like murder, corruption, and lying,” he said.

Museveni further encouraged Ugandans to complement their spiritual growth with hard work in key economic sectors such as commercial agriculture, industry, services, and ICT, noting that this combination is essential for building strong, prosperous families.
