The Independent Electoral Commission has officially nominated Faridah Nambi as the NRM flag bearer for the Kawempe North By-election.

Speaking to her supporters at Kawempe Mbogo Muslim Primary School Ground, Nambi urged women and youth to rally behind her candidacy, emphasizing their potential to shape the constituency’s future.

“Youth and women form the majority in this constituency and have the power to create a positive impact. I urge you to vote for a candidate from a tested and trusted party that has delivered peace, stability, and development in Uganda,” she said.

She also called on NRM members, who number over 20,000 in the area, to mobilize support and ensure victory.

“If all NRM members turn up and vote on April 13th, we will have a strong start,” Nambi stated.

Accompanied by NRM Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuhaire and Party Mobilization Director Rosemary Seninde, Nambi cautioned voters against self-seeking candidates trying to mislead the electorate.

“NRM has only one candidate Nambi. Let’s stay united for the good of our party and constituency,” she emphasized.

Kyatuhaire reiterated the party’s commitment to working with Nambi to uplift Kawempe communities, urging supporters to conduct door-to-door campaigns to spread the party’s message.

“NRM is one united, strong, and determined to fulfill its promises. We need your support to succeed,” Kyatuhaire said.

Meanwhile, Seninde encouraged voters to elect the NRM candidate, assuring them that government programs such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga would benefit the Kawempe ghettos under Nambi’s leadership.

“We will reach every voter, including those who may disagree with us. Let’s unite for the development of our people,” Seninde said, expressing confidence in an NRM victory.

Campaigns officially commence today following a harmonization meeting of all nine candidates in the race.
