The Electoral Commission has extended the period for verifying the Voters Register for Special Interest Groups (SIGs),  Daily Star has learned. the Revelation was made by EC Spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi.

The display of the National Voters Register, which began on April 25, 2025, will now continue until May 15, 2025, as part of preparations for the 2026 General Elections.

According to EC Spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi, the display of the Voters Registers for Special Interest Groups — including Youths, Persons with Disabilities, and Older Persons — also began on April 25 and was initially scheduled to end on May 8, 2025. However, this period has now been extended to May 15.

“We call upon the public, especially persons with disabilities, the youth, and older persons, to take advantage of this extension and visit their respective villages to verify their details on the Voters Register,” Mucunguzi urged.

He emphasized that the extension aims to ensure a transparent and accurate electoral process.

Mucunguzi also appealed to all stakeholders to actively participate in the display exercise and adhere to the guidelines provided, as the country prepares for the 2025/2026 General Elections.

“Let us not wait for the last minute. Let us work together to ensure we have a clean, credible National Voters Register, as well as accurate registers for Special Interest Groups,” he said.
