Entebbe International Airport recorded its busiest month on record in July 2025, with 230,577 passengers passing through its gates, according to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
UCAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya described the milestone as the highest monthly traffic the airport has ever achieved. The breakdown reveals 119,127 arrivals and 111,450 departures—an average of 7,437 passengers per day. This surpasses the previous record of 222,301 passengers set in December 2024.
Luggya attributed the surge in traffic to several overlapping factors. These included an influx of official delegations attending the CHAN 2024 tournament, increased tourism promotion campaigns, and a series of international conferences held in Uganda. Improved airline connectivity also made it easier for more travelers to choose Entebbe as their preferred gateway.
In addition to passenger traffic, the airport handled 5,863 metric tonnes of cargo in July, comprising 3,961 tonnes of exports and 1,902 tonnes of imports.
This new record further cements Entebbe International Airport’s position as a growing hub for regional air travel and trade, with analysts predicting continued growth as Uganda enhances its tourism appeal and business environment.
