The Ministry of Health has dismissed recent media reports suggesting a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Uganda, describing them as misleading and based on outdated information.

In a statement  issued earlier today, the Ministry clarified that the circulating messages are old video clips being re-shared by individuals with the intent to misinform the public.

The Ministry reassured the public that the national COVID-19 situation remains stable and under control, with no resurgence reported since the major outbreak ended three years ago.

It emphasized that Uganda’s robust disease surveillance and response system continues to actively monitor public health threats, including emerging COVID-19 variants reported globally.

Dr. Charles Olaro, Director General of Health Services, urged the public to remain vigilant and maintain good hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing with soap or using alcohol-based sanitizers. He also encouraged individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms to seek care at the nearest health facility.

“The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of all Ugandans and urges the public to rely on credible information from official sources,” Dr. Olaro said.
