The Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has appointed veteran trade advocate Hajji Issa Sekitto as its new Acting Chairman, following a unanimous decision by the Association’s Executive Board on Monday.
The announcement was made after an Extraordinary Executive Board Meeting held on August 4 at the KACITA headquarters in Kampala. The Board cited the need for stable leadership amid a transitional period for the Association and the wider business community.
Hajji Sekitto, a long-standing figure in Uganda’s trade sector, assumes the role with immediate effect.
The leadership change comes as Dr. Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, who had been serving as Acting Chairman, steps down to pursue a career in politics. The Board commended Dr. Musoke for his “outstanding service and dedication” during his tenure.
“This transition allows Dr. Musoke to fully focus on his political ambitions, while ensuring that KACITA maintains its non-partisan stance,” the Board said in a statement. “As a non-political organization, KACITA remains committed to championing the interests of Uganda’s business community.”
The Executive Board has called on all members, partners, and stakeholders to support Hajji Sekitto in his new role as the Association navigates this next chapter.
KACITA is one of the country’s most influential business associations, representing traders and entrepreneurs across the capital and beyond.
