President Yoweri Museveni has met Allirajah Subaskaran, founder of the Lyca Group, to discuss expanding Uganda’s digital infrastructure and widening access to affordable mobile services.

The meeting, held at Nakasero State Lodge, focused on strengthening connectivity as a driver of economic transformation, innovation and inclusive growth. In a statement shared on his official X account, the President said the discussions explored practical pathways to enhance digital access and leverage technology to support Uganda’s long-term development goals.

“Today, I met Allirajah Subaskaran, Founder of the Lyca Group, at Nakasero State Lodge, and we discussed ways of strengthening Uganda’s digital connectivity,” Museveni said.

He added that the talks centred on improving the affordability and reach of mobile services while advancing technological infrastructure to support business growth, job creation and service delivery.

“We explored improving access to affordable mobile services and advancing technology to support our economic transformation,” the President noted.

Museveni also praised Subaskaran’s entrepreneurial leadership, underscoring the pivotal role of private sector investment in accelerating national development.

“I commend him for his entrepreneurial spirit and the vital role of the private sector in driving growth,” he said.

The engagement signals Uganda’s continued effort to attract strategic ICT investment as the country deepens its digital transformation and positions connectivity as a cornerstone of socio-economic progress.
