There was glamour, joy, and jubilation as Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II showed up for the Masaza Cup final at Nakivubo Memorial Stadium, now known as Ham Stadium.

The Kabaka’s appearance marked his first major public event since returning from the United Kingdom, where he had traveled for official duties. He presided over the much-anticipated final between Ssingo and Buweekula counties.

“I call upon the entire Buganda to come and do two great things — to welcome Kabaka Mutebi and to cheer Ssingo and Buweekula in the Masaza Cup, which strengthens the unity of Buganda Kingdom,” said Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga.

In the semi-finals, Ssingo eliminated Bugerere, while Buweekula secured their place in the final after defeating Kyaggwe.

The Masaza Cup, one of Buganda’s most cherished annual football tournaments, continues to serve as a platform for promoting unity, culture, and talent across the kingdom.
