Kadondi Gracious has been declared the new Guild President of Makerere University after a closely contested election that attracted multiple candidates from different political affiliations.
She won the online voting poll against several candidates, including former Miss Uganda Hannah Karema. She secured 6,801 votes. Her win makes her the 92nd Guild President of the university.
According to the electoral commission, the election was conducted peacefully across various polling stations within the university, with students turning up in significant numbers to cast their votes.
The results were later announced following the tallying process, confirming Gracious as the winner.
In her victory message, Gracious pledged to prioritize student welfare, strengthen academic advocacy, and promote unity among the student body.
She also commended her fellow candidates for a competitive but respectful campaign.
The guild presidency at Makerere University is one of the most influential student leadership positions in Uganda, often seen as a platform for shaping future national leaders.
