Kampala’s social scene came alive over the weekend as revellers gathered for a nostalgic and high-energy celebration at the March 2026 edition of Reminisce Kadanke, sponsored by Stanbic Bank’s FlexiPay.
Held along First Street in the city’s industrial area and hosted at Club Guvnor, the event dubbed The Daytime Disco Edition delivered a lively blend of music, dance, and throwback memories, drawing crowds eager to relive the golden era of classic R&B and soul.
From mid-afternoon, the venue transformed into a vibrant hub of laughter and movement as attendees embraced the old-school vibe, reconnecting with friends and immersing themselves in a carefully curated playlist that evoked memories of youthful escapades.
Speaking at the event, Reminisce co-founder Robert Victor Nsibirwa described the experience as more than just a party.
“Reminisce is an experiential event that brings together lovers of old-school culture to enjoy classic music while reconnecting with friends. We call it the grown folk’s playground because it gives our attendees a chance to have fun freely,” he said.
Nsibirwa noted that the theme for this edition was deliberately chosen to tap into shared memories of youthful rebellion and carefree fun.
“Many of our attendees remember telling their parents they were going for coaching, only to sneak off to a kadanke and party until evening. This time, there is no need to lie about it,” he added.
Hosted by Timothy Code, the event also doubled as a stress reliever for many, offering a relaxed yet energetic atmosphere. Entertainment was powered by a lineup of popular DJs including DJ Bryan, DJ Kasbaby, DJ Cisse, and Sal Deejay, who kept the crowd on its feet from 3 pm until late into the night.
Organisers say the event has grown steadily since its launch in 2021, evolving from a simple concept into one of Kampala’s most anticipated social experiences, now held three times a year.
“Reminisce began out of a desire to create an authentic old-school atmosphere. Today, it has become a must attend event, and we are excited that it is now expanding beyond borders,” Nsibirwa said.
The experience was further enhanced by a happy hour segment, where revellers enjoyed discounted drinks exclusively through FlexiPay, reinforcing Stanbic Bank’s push for seamless digital transactions and financial inclusion.
For many attendees, the event was not just about music, but also about reclaiming missed moments.
Lynn Birungi, attending for the first time, described the experience as deeply personal.
“My parents were very strict about school parties, so I missed out on a lot of that fun. Being here today feels like I am finally making up for those moments,” she said.
With its growing popularity and unique blend of nostalgia and modern convenience, Reminisce continues to carve out a distinctive space in Kampala’s entertainment calendar, offering revellers a chance to celebrate the past while enjoying the present.
Organisers have already announced the next edition for August 2026, with the final installment of the year scheduled for December.
