Kayonde Abdallah, the visionary founding president of Migrant Workers Voice (MWV) and the organization’s newly appointed Global Ambassador, has graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Nkumba University. This academic milestone further strengthens his ongoing mission to defend and empower millions of migrant workers facing exploitation worldwide.
Alongside Kayonde, his colleagues Canol Michael Mpanga of the Military Police and Senior Superintendent of Police Otoro Romans also earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy and Public Administration, respectively. Their achievements highlight the diverse expertise among graduates committed to public service and social development.
Since founding MWV in 2017, Kayonde has transformed the platform into a powerful voice advocating for migrant workers’ welfare. Under his leadership, the organization has gained international recognition, including a Migrant Welfare Program Certificate from the International Organization for Migration (IOM)—a testament to its growing impact across Africa. His new role as Global Ambassador further amplifies his influence in international forums, where humanitarian diplomacy is essential to combating human trafficking and unethical recruitment practices.
Currently, Kayonde is pursuing a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and Global Studies and a Diploma in Law at Uganda’s Law Development Centre (LDC). These advanced studies are equipping him with the diplomatic and legal expertise needed to reform labour migration governance and champion workers’ rights on a global scale.
Building on his strong foundation in advocacy and academics, Kayonde Abdallah now sets his sights on political leadership as an aspiring Member of Parliament (2026–2031). His goal is to translate grassroots and global advocacy into impactful legislation that promotes fair labour practices and ensures social protection for both migrant and local workers.
Kayonde Abdallah’s journey embodies the perfect blend of academic excellence, grassroots activism, and political vision—an inspiring example of leadership dedicated to shaping a brighter future for migrant workers everywhere.
