City lawyer Isaac Kyagaba has strongly denied allegations linking him to a multi-billion-shilling gold fraud scandal. In separate statements, both Kyagaba and PT HRTC Exploration and Production, an Indonesia-based company, refuted the claims, calling them baseless and defamatory.

The allegations, which surfaced on social media, accused Kyagaba and PT HRTC of orchestrating a fraudulent gold transaction worth billions of shillings. However, both parties have categorically dismissed these accusations.

Kyagaba’s legal representatives, Kirunda & Co. Advocates, labeled the claims as “false and malicious”, asserting that their client was in no way involved in any fraudulent gold dealings.

“Contrary to the allegations, Kyagaba had no role in any so-called ‘gold heist.’ He neither orchestrated nor participated in any fraudulent scheme,” the law firm stated.

Similarly, PT HRTC Exploration and Production issued a statement denying any involvement in the alleged fraud. The company clarified that neither Kyagaba nor its legal representatives had received any funds related to the transaction.

“The claims that Kyagaba received $500,000 (Shs 18 billion) without remitting it to the authorities and that he presented a fake customs declaration are entirely false, misleading, and defamatory,” said Bunga Mentari, Director of PT HRTC.

Both Kyagaba and PT HRTC have urged authorities to investigate the source of these allegations and hold those responsible for spreading false information accountable.

These denials come amid increasing concerns over corruption and fraudulent activities in Uganda’s mining sector, with the government pledging stricter oversight and transparency measures.

The controversy has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many calling for a thorough investigation to establish the facts.
