Bulambuli District Woman Member of Parliament, Eng. Irene Nafuna Muloni, has officially launched her re-election campaign ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries set for July 16, 2025.

The launch event, held in Muyembe Town Council, drew enthusiastic crowds as supporters and NRM leaders gathered to endorse her candidacy by signing her nomination forms.

Present at the event were several key NRM figures, including Gerald Nangoli, Vice Chairman and MP for Elgon North County; Paul Kimamanti, the NRM District Chairman; Simon Peter Wanazofu, an aspirant for the LCV Chairperson seat; newly elected NRM sub-county leaders; and campaign coordinators from across the district.

“I’m very happy that the leaders turned up in large numbers on such short notice,” said Muloni. “They’ve already signed my nomination forms, and we’re ready to start campaigning across all 26 sub-counties and 1,323 villages.”

The former Minister of Energy expressed gratitude for the support she has received since entering politics in 2010.

“Young people are eager to volunteer for my campaign, and I deeply appreciate that. I assure the people of Bulambuli that I love them and remain committed to working with them,” she added.

Simon Peter Wanazofu praised voters for electing Paul Kimamanti as District Chairman and called for unity and development, urging the public to reject sectarianism.

“We must stay united—the political journey isn’t over. I’m back to contest for the LCV seat. If anyone misled you about me, I ask for your forgiveness so we can rebuild our district together,” he said.

Muloni also outlined her key achievements during her tenure, including rural electrification, improved healthcare services, better road infrastructure, agricultural support (such as distribution of seedlings, tractors, and maize milling machines), scholarships, and youth employment initiatives.

She reaffirmed her dedication to advocating for development and continued service to the people of Bulambuli.
