MTN Uganda has today celebrated two key urban development milestones in Jinja City: the official launch of a fully branded roundabout and the groundbreaking for the refurbishment of the City Fountain located at the Mayor’s Gardens. These initiatives fulfill commitments previously made to the city by MTN Uganda.

The projects form part of MTN Uganda’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, aligned with its Ambition 2025 strategy, which emphasizes sustainable growth, community development, and technological innovation.

Speaking at the ceremony, MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge reaffirmed the company’s dedication to enhancing communities and transforming public spaces.

“Cities like Jinja are central to Uganda’s growth, and we are proud to contribute to their transformation. Supporting the beautification of our cities is part of our ESG commitment under Ambition 2025,” said Mulinge.

The newly launched roundabout, boldly branded in MTN’s signature yellow, symbolizes movement, connection, and progress. Once completed, the refurbished City Fountain is expected to become a renewed landmark, reflecting the spirit of community pride and urban renewal.

Jinja City Mayor, Peter Alton Kasolo, welcomed MTN’s contributions, praising the partnership and its potential long-term impact.

“We are delighted to partner with MTN Uganda on these initiatives. The refurbished fountain and the branded roundabout will enhance our city’s beauty and create spaces that our residents can enjoy for years to come,” he noted.

MTN also acknowledged the contribution of Kards Investment, the implementation partner for both projects, and emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in promoting sustainable urban development.

These dual initiatives reflect MTN Uganda’s approach to integrating business with social impact, blending infrastructure investment with efforts that inspire civic pride and community engagement.
