Seth Murari, the National Sports and Games Coordinator in the office of the Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has spoken about the tragic and mysterious death of his daughter, Ahumuza Martha.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the loss of our beloved daughter, Ahumuza Martha. We urge the public to refrain from speculation and the spread of misinformation on social media. Let us lay her to rest as security agencies conduct their investigations,” Murari stated on X (formerly Twitter).
Speaking during a mass services at All Saints Nakasero Murari said; “Right now, I feel nothing in my body. This is not an easy day.”
“I refused to let her stay in the hostel on campus, and she obeyed. I asked her to take a taxi, and she complied. I suggested she use a boda boda, and she agreed—but later, I thought, What if my only daughter gets into an accident on a boda boda? So, I decided to buy her a car,” Barbara Murari, the deceased’s mother recounted.
“She studied for three years at university and brought me a degree. I was happy and celebrated her achievement. Now, at a time when I should be relaxing, looking forward to her bringing me a husband, starting a family, and blessing me with grandchildren, the devil has stolen her from me.” She said.
Ahumuza, a recent graduate of Isbat University, reportedly collapsed in the manager’s office at Mezo Noir, a nightclub in Kololo. She was rushed to the ICU at Kampala Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, two suspects Edward Mugabo, a cashier at the club, and his brother, Joseph Kalenzi have been arrested as investigations continue.
Following the incident, Mezo Noir has been temporarily closed.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mezo Noir Kampala will be temporarily closed to the public, effective immediately, until further notice,” the club said in a statement.
“We appreciate your understanding and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. A notification will be issued in due course announcing the reopening date,” the statement added.
