President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Lino Anguzu as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).His appointment was confirmed by Sandor Lyle, the Senior Press Secretary to President Museveni.

Anguzu, who has been serving as Assistant DPP, replaces Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who was recently appointed Principal Judge.

The President has forwarded Anguzu’s name to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting and approval.

Justice Abodo’s appointment as Principal Judge follows the elevation of Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija to the position of Deputy Chief Justice.

Prior to her new role, Justice Abodo served as Director of Public Prosecutions since April 2, 2020. Before that, she worked as a High Court Judge in the Criminal Division from February 2018 to April 2020.

Upon taking her oath of office as DPP in 2020, Justice Abodo pledged to build upon the achievements of her predecessors and to pursue key institutional reforms, including internal structural reorganization, improved staffing, and enhancing staff capacity through retooling and reskilling.
