President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised outgoing Russian Ambassador Vladlen Semivolos for his pivotal role in deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Uganda and Russia, as the envoy concluded his tour of duty.
The farewell meeting at State House Entebbe offered an opportunity for both leaders to reflect on the longstanding bilateral ties, with a focus on cooperation across key sectors including trade, energy, agriculture, and security.
President Museveni lauded Ambassador Semivolos for fostering “continued warmth and cooperation” between the two nations, noting that his tenure had contributed to mutual understanding and the advancement of shared interests.
“I congratulate you on finishing your tour of duty and commend your efforts in ensuring continued warmth and cooperation between our countries and people. I wish you success in your future endeavors,” President Museveni said.
Ambassador Semivolos, in turn, expressed gratitude for the collaboration and hospitality he experienced during his posting. “It has been both an honor and a privilege to serve in Uganda. I value the support I received in various fields that have benefitted both Uganda and Russia,” he remarked.
During his tenure, Semivolos actively reinforced bilateral engagements, facilitating high-level exchanges and supporting cooperation frameworks between Kampala and Moscow. His departure marks the close of a diplomatic chapter, but analysts say the groundwork laid during his service is likely to sustain future collaboration between the two countries amid shifting global dynamics.
