The Church of Uganda has confirmed its preparedness to host thousands of Christian pilgrims at the Namugongo Anglican Martyrs Site for the 2025 Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations.
According to the Rt. Rev. Godfrey Loum, Chairman of the Northern Uganda Regional Cluster, preparations are progressing well despite financial constraints. The organizing team requires over 2.2 billion Ugandan shillings to fund ongoing activities coordinated by various service providers.
The Northern Uganda Regional Cluster—comprising the dioceses of Northern Uganda, Lango, West Lango, Madi-West Nile, Kitgum, and Nebbi—is spearheading the organization of the national celebrations, which will take place on 3rd June 2025.
The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, will be the main celebrant. The Rt. Rev. Henry Luke Orombi, retired Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, is set to deliver the main sermon during this year’s event. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has confirmed attendance.
