President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assumed the role of Chairman of the East African Community at the 25th Heads of State Summit of the EAC, held in Arusha, Tanzania.

He takes over from William Ruto, President of Kenya, marking Museveni’s third term as Chairperson of the East African Community.

The EAC leadership rotates among member states, and in each cycle, Museveni continues to serve as Uganda’s President. His previous terms were in 2012 and 2017, and now he assumes the role again in 2026.
