The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has revealed his plans to transform Uganda’s economy ahead of the 2026 presidential elections.

Mafabi is scheduled to be nominated later today, alongside National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.

The two will join the race with National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni; Elton Joseph Mabirizi, president of the Conservative Party (CP); and Robert Kasibante of the National Peasants Party (NPP), who were nominated yesterday.

Speaking at his home in Garuga, Nandala said they are entering this election without antagonism and with no intention to undo what President Museveni has achieved.

“We are here to build on what has been established. Where there are gaps, we aim to address them. The country needs new blood like me with experience in accounting, farming, and teaching,” he said.

He also expressed concern about the state of the health sector: “People go to India for medication mostly MPs or those close to the regime. But what about our brothers, sisters, and grandmothers in the village? When you vote for me, we will ensure that all hospitals in Uganda are elevated.”

“I believe the people of Uganda should give me an opportunity, and they will see the results. We must invest in productive sectors so that every Ugandan has money in their pocket,” he added.

He urged Ugandans to turn up and vote: “I call upon every Ugandan to go out and vote. You can only complain about vote rigging if you have actually voted.”

Mafabi emphasized that the FDC is a party for the people of Uganda, and its leaders are merely custodians.

“I have come to fix the country by investing in productive sectors to create employment, develop human capital, ensure businesses thrive, and put money in the pockets of Ugandans,” he said.
