The Woman Member of Parliament for Ngora District, Apolot Stella Isodo, has passed away following a brief illness. Her death was confirmed by the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.
Apolot passed on yesterday morning, just a day after the announcement of the Parliamentary election results.
“With a heavy heart, I announce the unfortunate death of our colleague and sister, Apolot Stella Isodo, the Woman MP for Ngora District, after a short illness,” Speaker Among said in a statement.
“Sincere condolences to her family, colleagues in Parliament, the people of Ngora, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) fraternity, and all her friends,” she added.
Reports suggest that Apolot had been bedridden for some time due to an undisclosed illness.
Although she had contested to retain her seat, her fragile health prevented her from fully participating in the campaign. Her husband stepped in to campaign on her behalf, but she ultimately finished third in the race.
