National Unity Platform (NUP) member Olivia Lutaaya has been charged with unlawful drilling at the party’s offices in Makerere-Kavule, Kampala.

Lutaaya was among 89 NUP supporters arrested and detained last Friday as party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, traveled to Bwizibwera in Mbarara District to canvass support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

She joins other NUP officials and supporters already facing similar charges, including Edward Ssebufu (popularly known as Eddie Mutwe), Bobi Wine’s head of security; Deputy Spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro; Sauda Madaada; and seven others who are before the Kawempe Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The group faces charges of unlawful drilling, conspiracy to commit a felony, and other related offenses.

According to the prosecution, on February 12, 2025, the accused and others still at large allegedly held a meeting at the NUP offices in Makerere-Kavule involving unauthorized military-style drills, movements, and formations, contrary to Section 45(1)(b) of the Penal Code Act.

Lutaaya has been added to the existing case file alongside Mufumbiro, Ssebufu, and the other co-accused. She has been remanded until November 18, 2025, pending further court proceedings.
