Police Constable Andrew Alar , a police officer attached to the Counter-Terrorism Unit has drowned at Kalagala Falls on the River Nile, Daily Star has learned. The officer was reportedly deployed to provide security at the ongoing Nyegenye Festival.
Marine Police has since launched a search operation to retrieve the body. Police is yet to releases statement about the devastating news.
This incident comes barely a month after an engineer with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) drowned at Busowoko Falls.
Eng. Gershom Rwakasanga, who served as Manager of Terminals Development & Operations at the Jinja Storage Terminal, went missing on October 11, 2025, after reportedly drowning in the River Nile. His body was later recovered following an extensive search.
