Police have recovered two firearms following a foiled armed robbery in Kyotera District, the Daily Star has learned.

In an official statement, police said: “Yesterday, our officers in Kyotera foiled an aggravated robbery involving five armed suspects who attacked the manager of Mazima Bugaga Coffee Factory, stealing Shs 50 million.”

Acting swiftly, officers pursued the suspects toward Masaka and intercepted them in Kizigo Village. During the confrontation, one of the robbers, identified as Ssenyuumu Lawrence, was shot and killed. The other four suspects managed to escape.

Police confirmed the recovery of two guns, a motorcycle, and other exhibits at the scene.

“A pursuit of the remaining suspects is currently underway,” the statement added.
