The Uganda Police have announced a Shs 50 million reward for anyone with credible information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in the brutal murder of an elderly couple in Entebbe.

David Mutaaga (69) and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga (62), were found dead in their home on the morning of July 6, with fatal stab wounds, according to preliminary police investigations.

Speaking to the press, Police Spokesperson Kituma Rusoke said law enforcement agencies are working jointly to track down the perpetrators.

“We have obtained an audio recording of the suspect’s voice and are urging anyone who may recognize it to come forward. A Shs 50 million reward has been put up for any individual who provides information that leads to the suspect’s apprehension,” Rusoke said.

The bodies were discovered after a domestic worker alerted authorities about a suspected attack. Officers from the Entebbe Division Police responded and confirmed the deaths at the scene.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the case is being treated as a targeted double homicide with suspected elements of aggravated robbery.

“This was a violent and targeted attack. The couple had only recently returned from abroad and were settling back into their home. It’s a devastating loss,” he said.

Owoyesigyire added that the police had conducted a comprehensive crime scene examination and collected key forensic evidence.

“We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms. Our investigation teams are working tirelessly to identify and bring those responsible to justice.”

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information, including knowledge of suspicious individuals or activities around the area, to contact the nearest police station or use the anonymous tip lines.
