Taewaiko Dak Hussein, the prime suspect in the murder of Tumwebaze Pamela, is set to appear in court.
Taewaiko will be charged with the murder of the 46-year-old Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University. Taewaiko will appear before court tomorrow.
Pamela, a resident of Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District, was found dead in her bedroom on February 11, 2026.
According to Rachael Kawala, the Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Taewaiko Dak Hussein was arrested at his hideout in Budaka District. He was allegedly found in possession of property belonging to the deceased, which investigators consider a critical piece of evidence linking him to the crime.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect is a former house help of the deceased.
“Preliminary investigations show that at around 2:00 a.m., when Pamela met her death, the houseboy saw an unknown man inside her bedroom wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings. The suspect later fled the scene carrying a laptop bag belonging to the deceased,” Kawala stated.
She added that the houseboy and the children later checked on their mother and found her unresponsive in bed.
She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Kawala further noted that police task teams have been deployed and investigations are ongoing to gather additional evidence.
