Reckitt, a global leader in health, hygiene, and nutrition, continues to cement its position as a trusted partner in Uganda’s growth story. At the 2025 People’s Choice Awards, four of Reckitt’s flagship brands Dettol, Jik, Mortein, and Harpic were voted winners by Ugandan consumers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer trust.
The People’s Choice Awards, established in 2009, recognize business excellence across industries by rewarding brands that consistently deliver value and satisfaction. Reckitt’s household names emerged as winners in the following categories: Dettol – Best Medicated Bathing Soap, Jik – Best Home Care Bleach and Disinfectant, Mortein – Best Indoor Insecticide Spray and Harpic – Best Homecare Organic Toilet Disinfectant
Beyond consumer trust, Reckitt’s Uganda operations have registered remarkable growth. Over the past two years, the organisation has significantly increased its investments in the country, with investments in media, and product distribution through business and affiliates generating employment from 50 to over 200 citizens, thereby underlining the company’s role as a significant employer in the market.
In addition, Jik is supplied to all government hospitals through the National Medical Stores, further highlighting Reckitt’s contribution to public health. Strategic collaborations with partners such as Chil AI Group and initiatives like Dettol Hygiene Quest Program, focuses on improving hygiene standards in schools and communities by training teachers, building handwashing facilities, and distributing hygiene education materials to prevent disease and promote healthier living. In 2025, 450,000 children have received hygiene education and 1,500 handwash stations have been donated to schools around Uganda.
Commenting on the achievement, Shaka Bornface Onyari, Country Manager of Reckitt Uganda, said: “These awards reflect the trust Ugandans place in our brands and affirm our commitment to delivering world-class health and hygiene solutions. Beyond the recognition, we are proud of the role we play in strengthening Uganda’s economy, from creating jobs, and supplying essential products to hospitals, to supporting education and hygiene programs. We are not only building brands; we are building a healthier, more resilient Uganda.”
Reckitt appreciates the organizers of the People’s Choice Awards for celebrating excellence and amplifying the voice of consumers who continue to shape the success of leading brands in Uganda.
