On Sunday, August 31st, Safal Uganda Baati Foundation will join thousands of Ugandans in the annual Rotary Cancer Run, reaffirming its commitment to advancing public health through community-driven action.
The Foundation, which serves as the CSR arm of Uganda Baati Limited, will participate through its health pillar, one of four strategic focus areas that also include environment, shelter, and education.
While not a corporate sponsor of the event, the Foundation’s decision to mobilize staff and stakeholders for the run reflects a deliberate shift toward participatory engagement in national health initiatives. This year’s run is particularly significant, with proceeds earmarked for the construction of a cancer institute at Nsambya Hospital, a critical investment in Uganda’s oncology infrastructure.
George Mubiru, the head of the Safal Uganda Baati Foundation remarked that health is not just a pillar in the foundations’ strategy, it’s a shared responsibility, “Our participation in the Rotary Cancer Run is a demonstration of solidarity with every Ugandan infected and affected by cancer, and a reaffirmation of our belief that sustainable development must include equitable access to healthcare.”
The Foundation’s health interventions have historically focused on preventative care, community sensitization, and support for underserved populations. From facilitating medical camps in peri-urban districts to supporting maternal health outreach programs, Safal Uganda Baati Foundation has consistently prioritized initiatives that bridge gaps in access and awareness.
Participation in the Cancer Run marks a continuation of this approach. Rather than limiting its role to financial contributions, the Foundation is choosing to walk alongside citizens boldly in the fight against cancer.
Uganda continues to face significant challenges in cancer care, including late-stage diagnoses, limited treatment centers, and low public awareness. The establishment of a cancer institute at Nsambya Hospital is expected to decentralize services and improve outcomes for thousands of patients annually. Safal Uganda Baati Foundation’s involvement in the run signals its alignment with these national priorities.
Beyond health, the Foundation’s integrated approach to CSR and ESG ensures that its interventions are both impactful and sustainable. Whether through environmental conservation efforts, shelter improvement programs, or education, the Foundation remains committed to building resilient communities across Uganda.
As the Rotary Cancer Run unfolds this Sunday, Safal Uganda Baati Foundation will join hands with fellow Ugandans in a united stride toward improved cancer care. Their participation reflects a deeper institutional commitment to advancing public health and supporting initiatives that strengthen Uganda’s healthcare system.
