At least seven people were injured in a single-vehicle accident involving a YY Coaches bus at Kakinzi Village along the Kampala–Gulu Highway in Luwero District.
The bus, registration number UBF 807D, was travelling from Kampala to Gulu when the driver reportedly swerved to avoid a stationary trailer at around 10:30 p.m. The vehicle lost control, overturned, and struck the trailer.
All injured passengers were rushed to Kasana Luwero Main Hospital, where they received medical attention. No fatalities were reported.
Police have launched investigations into the accident as families await further details.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over road safety, particularly the presence of unlit roadblocks and stationary vehicles along major highways.
The accident also occurs barely a year after the government suspended YY Coaches following a fatal crash at Makindu Village along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road in Buikwe District, where a YY Company Scania bus (registration UAV 701C) overturned and caught fire.
At the time, Works and Transport Minister Fred Byamukama said the suspension would allow authorities to inspect driver badges and permits, review driver schedules and training records, and investigate the use of aged or potentially underqualified drivers.
